A Unique Tango Festival
The Indonesia Championship Preliminaries, is one session of the series of tango preliminaries before the world tango championship in Buenos Aires. The ultimate aim is to give another prestigious place of preliminary tango championship around Asia Pacific, and to find the best dancers in Indonesia Championship Preliminaries, representative in the World tango championship in Buenos Aires annually.
The Tango in Paradise, is not only a tango festival, but more a mix culture and cross tradition, enhancing two beautiful countries – Indonesia and Argentina. The ultimate aim is to juxtapose the two beautiful cultures, Indonesian and Argentinean, each enhancing the charisma of the other country.
Beside that we have a responsibility to promote Bali as a tourist destination. We also want to provide an International meeting place for tango lovers of every level, throughout the world where by each and every one will have a chance to meet with other tango lovers from different part of the world, to participate in the workshops or lessons, to enjoy the spectacular performances of the Argentinean tango masters, as well as enjoying Bali to the full.
This year we invite world name tango masters: Roberto Reis (Argentina), Gabriel Ponce y Analia Morales (Argentina), Dante Sánchez y Roxana Suarez (Argentina), Miguel Angel Zotto y Daiana Guspero (Argentina) and Jonny Carvajal y Suyay Quiroga (Argentina). They will collaborate with Guest Dancers: Lucia Barrios y Alejandro Quaglia (Argentina), Fernando Carrasco y Fransiska Oei (Argentina - Indonesia), Joaquin Besga y Katherine Laiton (Argentina), Antonella Terrazas (Argentina), Maria Soetopo (Indonesia) and Traditional Balinese Dancers in the Gala Show directed by David Alejandro Palo (Argentina) and Denny Malik (Indonesia). We are pretty sure their collaboration will produce a magical Tango Show.
The famous International Tango DJ: Dani Vilarino (Argentina), Anthony Miller (Australia), Lloyd Bediones (Philippines) and Fuchong El Tanguero (Indonesia) will spin the music accompanying the tango lovers in expressing their desire on the dance floor.
The Pioneers
Ratih Soe Kosasie
A former Top Model Indonesia in 1985, graduated in Business Administration from Brawijaya University in 1987 and has a 2nd degree in Interior Design from The American College in London in 1995.
In 2008 she became a Tango dancer and began traveling around the world to train and perform in many Tango festivals. In 2018, she danced Rumba in a collaboration with the world’s number one professional Latin dancer – Stefano Di Fillipo. In 2011, she was invited by the Indonesian Embassy in Argentina for a cultural mission to perform Tango in Buenos Aires.
She formed Tango Lovers in Jakarta. Since 2008, she has organized many Tango events, inviting Tango Maestros from Buenos Aires. Starting in 2012 until now, she organizes Tango in Paradise for Humanity in Bali — a prestigious and unique Tango festival that blends cultures and traditions, celebrating the beauty of Indonesia and Argentina.
Through Tango movements, she expresses Connection, Passion, and Style — “Tango & Kebaya, a perfect synergy.”
